Carroll Shelby's association with Ford began in the early 1960's and resulted in the legendary 289 Cobra, 427 Cobra, and the original GT40. Later he modified Mustangs and produced the Shelby GT350, GT500, and GT500-KR in the sixties. After more than 30 years apart, Shelby and Ford have teamed up once again. In 2007, two new Shelby Mustangs were introduced: the Ford Shelby GT with a 4.6 liter 319 horsepower engine, and the Shelby GT500 with a 500 horsepower 5.4 liter engine.
