The 390 was based on the Gen-2 AMC V8 which was introduced in 1966. The 390 Gen-2 was manufactured in 1968-69 and featured a forged crank and connecting rods. It was rated at 315 horsepower and 425 ft-lbs of torque with 10.2:1 compression. In 1969, the AMX 390, with 12.2:1 compression, was rated at 340 hp and 430 ft-lbs of torque.In 1970, the Gen-3 engine was introduced with a new freer-flowing head design and a raised deck. This version of the 390 was produced only in 1970. With 10.2:1 compression and a four-barrel it was rated at 335 horsepower and 420 ft-lbs of torque. In the Rebel Machine it was rated at 340 hp and 427 ft-lbs of torque with ram-air intake.Note that most shirts that have a small design on the front, also have a full-sized image on the back.
